James McGrath, DMD
Dr. James McGrath grew up in North Haven, Connecticut, and attended the University of Connecticut for both his undergraduate and dental school education. After graduating, he completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency at the University of Connecticut. After completing his education, he worked in West Haven and Milford, Connecticut, treating patients at a cutting-edge dental practice. While working full-time, he completed hundreds of hours of online education in many aspects of general dentistry, including implantology, full-mouth rehabilitations, complex treatment planning, periodontics (gum procedures), restorative procedures, endodontics (root canals) and oral surgery. He also attended a year-long advanced education course in orthodontics and hands-on seminars at the New Jersey Health Professionals Developmental Institute to further his education in bone grafting, suturing and wisdom teeth extractions.
Dr. McGrath is committed to a lifetime of learning because he constantly strives to provide the highest quality of care to all of his patients. Dr. McGrath is also passionate about giving back to the community and has even traveled to Grenada on a dental service trip to provide free dental screenings, restorative procedures, and emergency care. He is a member of the American Dental Association® and the Connecticut State Dental Association and is the treasurer of the Middlesex County Dental Society. Locally, he has volunteered his time to Special Smiles, CT Mission of Mercy, and the South Park Dental Clinic. In his free time, he enjoys golf, tennis, hiking, camping, skiing and traveling to new places.

Amanda
Office Manager/Hygienist
Amanda is from Trumbull, Connecticut, and worked for four years as a dental assistant and veterinary technician. She has always been passionate about animals and currently has two dogs of her own, Cooper and Taz. During her time as a dental assistant, she became more interested in the dental field and decided to pursue it further. She enrolled in Fones School of Dental Hygiene and graduated in 2019. Amanda brings a large array of skills to Apollonia Dental, including years of experience in both the administrative and clinical aspects of dentistry and dental hygiene. In her free time, she enjoys spoiling her dogs, hiking, fishing, baking, and working on arts and crafts.
Emma
Dental Hygienist
Emma is from East Hampton, Connecticut, and started her dental hygiene career in 2019. She was selected into the Dental Hygiene Program at Tunxis Community College in Farmington, Connecticut, and graduated in 2021. Emma focuses on making every patient feel truly comfortable in the dental chair and will do everything she can to make sure you leave feeling confident to come back for your next appointment!
At home, Emma is married with two children and has a dog named Tootsie Roll. In her free time, she enjoys going to museums with her son and helping her oldest daughter practice her dance and acrobatic routines.
Liz
Liz is originally from Stratford, Connecticut, and started her dental career as an assistant in 2015. She then enrolled in the Fones School of Dental Hygiene and graduated in 2020. Liz truly cares about every patient she treats and strives to ensure her patients are having a positive and informed dental experience.
In her free time, Liz enjoys hiking, traveling and spending time with her two dogs, Pickles and Pepper, and her two cats, Steve and Pumpkin.
Monica
Monica’s career in the dental world covers 30+ years so far. She studied dental assisting at Tunxis Community College in Farmington, Connecticut. Today, what she likes most about working at our office is being part of a team that truly cares about each patient’s oral health!
At home, Monica is married with three children. In her free time, she enjoys vacationing in Maine and New Hampshire, kayaking, trying out new breakfast places and (of course) being with family.
Sarah
Born and raised in Durham, CT, Sarah attended Keene State College for her bachelor’s degree in Biology. Initially studying pharmacology, she fell in love with dental care and has been working in the field ever since. In her spare time, Sarah enjoys sewing, hiking and watching scary movies with her dog, Jake. Her personal goal is to make you feel confident in a smile that you deserve.
