To Floss or Not to Floss ... that is not the question.
There has been a lot in the news lately about the need to floss, or not. For those of you who like to know "the bottom line", we recommend you floss. If you are not flossing, start. If you are, continue. If you are not flossing because you choose not to, well, we're still living in America, the land of the free and the dentally brave.
It is my belief that simple things, like cleaning one's mouth and it's counterpart (wiping your rear) should not be complicated or confusing. If these things do become confusing, it is likely someone is making money on the topic or doesn't completely know what they are talking about. Without getting too technical (go talk to your dentist or proctologist, etc.), it you don't clean certain parts of your body, you are more likely to have inflammation and infection and, all in all, that is bad.
Now back to flossing. To stand behind our flossing stand, we are extending a complimentary (read "free") oral hygiene instruction session at our office. It still surprises me how many adults have never been taught how to brush and floss properly! And they are teaching their kids the wrong habits!! Call our office at 860 704 8000 and say this: "Adam said on the internet that I could bring in my toothbrush and floss and someone will sit down with me for ten minutes to make sure I am brushing and flossing correctly. I'd like to take advantage of this community service you are doing." My team, at that point, may act a little surprised since they have no idea I am doing this. But that's the deal. Bring your toothbrush and floss and we'll make sure you are doing it right. It will help you reduce your risk of cavities, gum disease, heart disease, diabetes, pregnancy risk and a whole bunch of other things!
