Pregnancy Dental Care
Generally, it is safe for pregnant patients to get needed dental care as long as the proper guidelines are followed. In the past, a conservative position has been maintained that all dental care be postponed until the pregnancy has run it's course. What we have found to be the case, however, is that preventive care is more important during pregnancy. General dental care can also be addressed during pregnancy. Infections need to be addressed as soon as possible as evidence shows that the adverse affects of dental infection are significantly more damaging than we thought.
If you are pregnant and concerned about dental care, feel free to call us. The health of your mouth can affect the health of your baby. When you visit, please ask for guidelines for the dental care of pregnant patients. We will be happy to discuss the best options to keep your mouth healthy throughout your pregnancy.
