  • “I had an emergency dental issue and I was so worried I could not be seen right away. Not only did they see me the same day I called, but it was an excellent experience from beginning to end. Outstanding practice. Highly recommend. I found my new dentist!”

“Dr. Singh and all his staff are caring, pleasant knowledgeable and professional. What I like best about Dr. Singh is that he is not pushy about treatment. He tells you what needs to be done and lets you make the decision when and if you want it done.”

Digital X-Rays

Our office is dedicated to your health and safety, and x-rays are one of our most valuable diagnostic tools. When a more advanced, safer version became available, we were quick to adopt this technology to benefit our patients.

Why Dental X-Rays Matter

Many of your examinations will include digital dental x-rays. This is because x-rays allow us to see what’s going on deep inside your teeth and beneath the gumline. In many cases, by the time a problem is visible to the naked eye, it’s already spread beyond the point where noninvasive, conservative treatment will help.

Some of the problems that x-rays help us catch include:

  • Early cavities
  • Infections in the root canal or the jawbone
  • Damage to the root or inner structure of the tooth following an injury
  • Damage to the jawbone caused by periodontal disease

Dental x-rays also help us considerably as we monitor growth and development in children. We are able to make sure that the permanent teeth are developing properly and look for problems that simple early orthodontic treatment can fix to prevent years of costly treatment later.

We believe in catching problems early in order to provide inexpensive and easy treatments. Better yet, we’d like to prevent problems before they ever start. Dental x-rays help us meet both of these goals to give you the healthy teeth and gums you and your family deserve.

The Digital Advantage

What’s the first thing to happen when you need an x-ray? You’re taken into a little room and covered with a lead apron to shield your body from the radiation. While we’ve learned that the risk of small doses of radiation is justified by the diagnostic benefit of x-rays, if there’s a safer way to get the same information, we’re going to use it.

Digital x-rays have been shown to use up to 90% less radiation than traditional x-rays.

That’s a pretty significant improvement.

And the benefits and advantages of digital x-rays don’t stop there:

  • Digital x-rays aren’t developed on film; they’re sent directly to a computer monitor. This cuts down the time needed to wait for film to develop, shortening your overall appointment time.
  • The image created by digital x-rays is clearer, and the software allows us to zoom in on problematic areas and highlight our concerns. This also makes it easier for us to show you the problem and better explain your treatment options.
  • Images can be transmitted in the blink of an eye. If you ever move or need to see a specialist, we can send your x-rays electronically.
  • Your x-rays can become a part of your electronic file and easily pulled up at future appointments, making it simpler to monitor your progress or check to see if a problem is developing over time.
  • No chemicals are used to develop the images and there’s no film to store, meaning that the entire process is more efficient and environmentally friendly.

We always welcome your questions about your care and the technology we use. Call Apollonia Dental in Middletown, CT today to schedule your next examination with Dr. Singh.
